CORONAVIRUS | Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today denied that three new areas - two in Selayang and one in Chow Kit - have been placed under the enhanced Movement Control Order (MCO).
"Not yet. So long as I have not announced it, there is no enhanced MCO.
"But in certain areas, we strengthen control administratively," the senior minister in charge of the security cluster said during a daily National Security Council Covid-19 update press conference in Putrajaya.
The three areas are Taman Wilayah and Taman Desa Bakti in Selayang, as well as Jalan Raja Bot, where the Chow Kit market is located.
"Maybe we will erect razor wires and other things, but we don't declare it as enhanced MCO.
"We will have more stringent control over the coming and going from the area, and we still do a swab test for all residents," he said when asked to confirm media reports on the late-night installation of razor wires in the three areas.
A source from the Kuala Lumpur Crisis Management Centre (CMC) earlier told Malaysiakini that unlike the enhanced MCO, these three areas are placed under what was described as a semi-enhanced MCO.
