Minister: Only gov’t matters will be prioritised during May 18 sitting

Malaysiakini

Government matters will be prioritised during the May 18 Dewan Rakyat sitting, says de facto parliament and law minister Takiyuddin Hassan (above).
At a press conference this afternoon, he explained the order of events for next week’s much-awaited sitting.
“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will come and officiate the sitting.
“After that, the House will sit to settle government matters and government business only. And it will adjourn,” he said.
“Government matters will be prioritised. The government has several matters like motions and bills [...],” he added when asked about if other motions would be debated.
Takiyuddin did not state any time limit for the one-day sitting, only that it would begin at 10am and not have the usual 1pm to 2.30pm lunch break.
“The sitting will continue until matters are settled,” he said.
The upcoming sitting could become a contentious affair if it hears a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Filed by Muhyiddin’s predecessor and Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the motion has been accepted by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Mohd Yusof.
