MySejahtera app to feature QR code reader for check-ins

Malaysiakini

The public can expect an easier process to enter public spaces soon as the Health Ministry will introduce QR code feature in its MySejahtera application.
According to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the feature will enable users of MySejahtera to use the app to check-in at places like shopping malls and restaurants without having to write down their details upon entering each location.
"Now we are encouraging more people to download the app so that they can get the latest information and tracking system (for Covid-19 hotspots).
"And starting June 1, we will start using a QR code (on the app) to scan," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Currently, shopping malls and business operators either adopt the manual way to register visitors to their premises or have them scan their own companies' QR codes which lead to websites where users would have to fill in their details.
This has been the practice since Covid-19 pandemic hit the country as the government requires businesses to keep a record of their visitors so that authorities can track down close contacts in case a positive case is detected among visitors to the premises.
It is learned that the QR code system to be embedded in MySejahtera is being developed with the cooperation of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
For the record, MySejahtera was provided by the ministry as a platform to monitor the outbreak and for Malaysians to assess their health condition online.
Noor Hisham said that as of yesterday, a total of 752,711 individuals have downloaded the application.
Of the number, 4,565 persons under surveillance have been identified while 1,869 persons under investigation have registered themselves through the app.
Meanwhile, on a related matter, Noor Hisham said MOH's capacity to conduct Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests to detect Covid-19 has been increased to 29,789 samples a day. - Mkini
