Nine in hot soup for holding BBQ behind apartment block

Mass gatherings are still prohibited under the conditional movement control order.
PETALING JAYA: Nine men between 20 and 23 years of age were fined RM1,000 each for gathering for a barbecue behind an apartment block in Kota Damansara here last night.
Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the men, all of whom were Malaysian, had flouted Regulation 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
“We would like to warn the public that action can be taken for disobeying the law,” he said in a statement today.
Although certain economic and social activities are allowed under the relaxed movement control order, mass gatherings are still prohibited.
Members of the public are also supposed to observe social distancing rules to prevent any further spread of Covid-19.
Earlier this afternoon, however, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said police had issued compounds to 534 people for flouting the conditional movement control order.
Of these, 25 were for visitations during the Hari Raya period. - FMT
