PBS now PN 'partner', like GPS in S'wak

SABAH POLLS | Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has announced that it has inked a partnership deal with Perikatan Nasional (PN), but will not be a member of the new fledgling coalition.

"(This) is exactly the same as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in Sarawak. They are a partner of PN," said PBS secretary-general Jahid Jahim in a statement today.

The joint agreement was inked by Jahid and PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin in Tamparuli, Sabah yesterday.

Jahid said that if PBS and PN win enough seats, they will form the next Sabah state government together.

"While we have our own manifesto, PBS shall adopt and share the full contents of PN's manifesto during the campaign," he added.

PBS will also be using Prime Minister and PN president Muhyiddin Yassin's image and message as part of its campaign.

The agreement will allow PBS to use its own logo and flag during the election campaign too.

"This is the beauty of PBS' position. We are on our own. Fully autonomous and not dictated by any party or parties, and yet part of the bigger PN family, to jointly develop and make Malaysia greater," he said.

Jahid's statement does not address the fact that PBS will be facing Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) - a PN component party - in the contest for six seats.

PBS is also going against BN component parties in 10 constituencies. - Mkini
