PETALING JAYA: There are two more days left for Malaysians to renew their expired road tax and driving licence which expired during the movement control order (MCO).
The 70% discount on JPJ summons will also expire on the same date.
“The discounts and abeyance to renew expired road tax and driving license during the MCO will end on September 30.
“We call on motorists to get these done early to avoid issues during the last-minute rush, ” said the Road Transport Department (JPJ) on Facebook on Tuesday (Sept 29).
On June 17, JPJ had assured more than two million Malaysians whose driving licence and road tax which expired during the MCO period that no action will be taken against them.
Then on Aug 29, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that the deadline had been extended to September 30, in line with the extension of the recovery MCO.
Dr Wee said the decision was made after taking into consideration the hardships and financial problems facing the people after their income was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. - Star
