KUALA LUMPUR: Social media users, particularly residents in Selangor, affected by a sudden water cut due to pollution, did not take kindly to a couple of Instagram posts made by the wife of the state's Menteri Besar.
While her Instagram account is private, screenshots of two postings allegedly made by Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad found their way onto Twitter and Facebook, sparking angry comments.
In one photo of a water tank at her home, Masdiana thanked Pengrusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd for the water delivery.
The wife of Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, in another post, was said to have shared a photo of kids splashing around in a swimming pool, captioned, "Bila air takda... (when there's no water)."
Earlier this afternoon, Masdiana posted an apology on her public Facebook account.
"As a mother, I just wanted to express my gratitude to the Air Selangor frontline staff who have been working hard for the past few days.
"It was not my intention to brag. As such, I apologise if such actions created any misinterpretations and offended anybody," she wrote.
Masdiana said claims that the water tanker was sent to fill their swimming pool was untrue.
"Insya-Allah, together with the frontliners, I'll be helping the residents, especially the mothers and senior citizens in areas where the water supply are still disrupted," Masdiana said. - NST
