Full water supply restored to 69pct of affected areas, says Air Selangor

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has announced that as of 6am today, a total of 888 areas have now fully regained their water supply.

This means that 69 percent out of the 1,279 areas that were originally affected by the unscheduled water supply disruption have now reached full recovery, Air Selangor said in a statement.

"The unscheduled water supply disruption followed the shutdown of the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants due to pollution in Sungai Selangor on Nov 10," Air Selangor corporate communications head Elina Baseri said in the statement.

"Consumers are advised to let the tap water flow until it is clear before using the water," she added.

As of 6am today the percentage of recovery by regions were Petaling (60 percent), Klang/ Shah Alam (51 percent), Gombak (55 percent), Kuala Lumpur (75 percent), Hulu Selangor (87 percent), Kuala Langat (80 percent) and Kuala Selangor (99 percent).

The areas that have yet to fully recover are listed here:

Air Selangor hopes that consumers who have received their water supply will use water prudently to ensure that the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled," Elina said.

Alternative water supply assistance at public water taps and Pusat Khidmat Setempat (PKS) is still available for the convenience of consumers who are still affected.

Air Selangor will provide further updates periodically, she said.

More than one million households were affected in the latest shutdown and four individuals have been arrested on suspicion of having polluted the water supply. - Mkini
