KOTA KINABALU: A man who was interrupted by police while sniffing glue attacked them with a modified chainsaw chain at Pulau Gaya, near here, today. One policeman was injured in the arm and leg.
City police chief Habibi Majinji said a group of policemen had come across the 21-year-old man during a routine patrol at the island at 10.30am.
They introduced themselves to the man, who was seen sniffing the substance. The man immediately got up and hurled abuses at them, telling them he would end their lives.
Habibi said the man was “wildly swinging the cutting chain which he had modified into a weapon”.
He was overpowered soon after. No identification documents were found on the man and he has since been remanded. - FMT
