Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik has initiated a new movement called #UntukMalaysia which focuses on finding solutions for issues surrounding the education sector.
The idea was born out of concern for education issues in Malaysia, and it is aimed at tackling them with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
Maszlee, who is the patron of the movement, said that Untuk Malaysia relies fully on participation from concerned citizens, and believes that change can happen if everyone works together hand in hand.
"Untuk Malaysia believes that there is no education problem that cannot be solved.
"Untuk Malaysia will start the initiative to ensure that all stakeholders can sit together around a table to discuss long-standing issues," he said during the launch at the Education Rejuvenation Organisation in Cyberjaya today.
The former education minister said that more individuals from groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic can enjoy benefits from concerned Malaysians.
"As a public movement, Untuk Malaysia is responsible to provide a platform for every rakyat to participate in and together address problems that could not be solved before.
"Untuk Malaysia needs assistance from all including professionals, civil servants, government and private employees, university researchers and all sections of society to make this national agenda a success," he added.
According to him, the movement is open to anyone regardless of their ideology, political leaning, identity, age or background.
Stakeholders such as education unions and NGOs are also invited to join.
The movement has a web portal where Malaysians can apply for assistance. Applications would be subjected to screening and dependent on the amount of funds they manage to collect. - Mkini
