The Tumpat Hospital no longer accepts cases other than Covid-19 starting yesterday, said Kelantan Health Department director Dr Zaini Hussin.
He said this was in preparation for any possibility of an increase in Covid-19 cases in the state.
He added that cases from the Emergency and Trauma Unit which require admission would be sent to the Pasir Mas Hospital, Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh and Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ2) in Kota Bharu.
“Starting from last night, the Tumpat Hospital will be operating as a Covid-19 hospital,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
However, Dr Zaini said patients with emergency cases which required urgent treatment, such as major heart attack, critical shortness of breaths and other life-threatening illnesses, could still seek treatment from the Tumpat Hospital, although they would be transferred to another hospital if they need to be admitted.
He said that as of yesterday, 240 Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in Kelantan.
