Water supply restored to 36% of affected areas in the Klang Valley

Air Selangor advises people to let their taps run until the water is clear before they start to use it.

PETALING JAYA: Water supply has been restored to 404 (36%) of the 1,279 areas in the Klang Valley affected by the latest water disruption, according to Air Selangor.

In a statement, Air Selangor said another 875 areas are still affected and in the process of having supply restored.

More than half of the affected areas in Kuala Selangor, some 67%, have had supply restored.

This is followed by Gombak (31%), Kuala Lumpur (28%), Petaling (17%), Klang and Shah Alam (13%). Supply has yet to be restored to Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat.

“Users are advised to let their taps run until the water is clear before they start to use it.

“Air Selangor hopes users who have had supply restored will use it conservatively to ensure the restoration of supply to other areas goes according to schedule.”

The latest water disruption was caused by the pollution of Sungai Selangor which led to dry taps for over 1.13 million households in the Klang Valley since yesterday evening.

There have been a total of six unscheduled water disruptions caused by pollution this year, with water treatment plant closures occurring on March 17, April 16, Sept 3, Oct 4, Oct 19 and Nov 10.

Meanwhile, burst pipes had also caused unscheduled water disruptions on Feb 7, May 5, June 3, June 11, July 21, Aug 6, Sept 16, Oct 14 and Oct 16. - FMT
