The government has announced that civil servants would receive a special RM500 Aidilfitri aid next month.
All civil servants Grade 56 and below would be eligible for the aid. This includes those under a contract of service, contract for service, daily part-time officers as well as MySTEP appointees.
Retired civil servants, on the other hand, would receive RM250.
In a media statement this afternoon, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said the aid is in recognition of their service and sacrifice in executing their duties and responsibilities during such a challenging period.
The special aid, which would be disbursed together with their salaries on May 6, would benefit more than two million civil servants and retirees.
The PMO said the announcement of the special aid was made earlier this year compared to previous years in order to help civil servants make preparations for Hari Raya.
“The government hopes the special aid will alleviate their financial burden as well as spur them to continue serving with dedication,” it added. - Mkini
