Count us out if 'court cluster' works with Harapan - Mukhriz

The Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) won't be involved with Pakatan Harapan if the "court cluster" works with the coalition.

Pejuang pro-tem president Mukhriz Mahathir (above) said this in reference to the group of Umno leaders who are facing graft charges.

"I do not see how we can cooperate with any quarters that are willing to work with the court cluster. On this matter, we have been consistent from the beginning.

"Wherever the court cluster resides, we won't go there. Now they are in Perikatan Nasional. If, for example, they shift to Pakatan Harapan, we won't go there," he told a press conference after officiating the Kelantan chapter of the party.

Pejuang is still working on getting the party registered for the 15th general election but is facing an uncooperative Registrar of Societies.

Mukhriz said Pejuang pro-tem chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad made the right decision in forming a third bloc in the opposition so that its position does not waver.

He said this amid PKR's purported behind-the-scene dealing with the court cluster.

However, the Harapan presidential council last Saturday resolved to adopt a "big tent" approach to cooperate with all opposition parties as long as they do not include "kleptocrats".

Mukhriz said Pejuang has yet to decide if it will form alliances for the next general election.

"We are still open about the matter but have yet to make a decision.

"When the time comes, we will make an announcement," he added.

Yesterday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng also reiterated the "big tent" approach, referred to as the "Port Dickson Resolution", when asked if Harapan will cooperate with Pejuang.  - Mkini
