KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah Umno assemblyman has lodged a police report over a social media post linking him to a cheating case over sand mining work.
Tempasuk assemblyman Mohd Arsad Bistari said he lodged the report after spotting the posting on a Facebook page on Thursday.
He said the posting attempted to portray him as being involved in the case at Sungai Kuala Abai in Kadamaian, Kota Belud.
“The claims are baseless and slanderous,” he said in a statement here today. “I have requested the police to launch an investigation and I will take the necessary action soon.”
Arsad said he had also consulted his lawyer over potential legal action against those deliberately making false accusations which he said had the intention to shame him.
A married couple had recently demanded that the Companies Commission of Malaysia and the police should disclose the results of investigations into a report they lodged over a certain assemblyman, who was also their former business partner.
The couple claimed they were removed from the company, said to belong to the assemblyman, without their knowledge and consent. - FMT
