COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 5,828 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,426,050.
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 12.3 percent compared to the preceding week.
However, in Sarawak, hospitalisation is up 8 percent compared to the previous week, according to the CovidNow website.
Generally, new cases across the country are steadily decreasing as an R-naught of 0.87 was recorded yesterday. An R-naught of less than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 is decelerating.
The only region with an R-naught of above 1.00 is Kuala Lumpur.
Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish the breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
The breakdown by states yesterday (Oct 22), when 6,630 new cases were reported, is:
