Wage subsidies up to 40 pct for companies hiring women, disabled, Orang Asli

 

BUDGET 2022 | The government has allocated RM4.8 billion to guarantee jobs for up to 600,000 Malaysians via wage subsidies.

The subsidies are for one year of employment and are split into two stages.

It is also split into three categories:

1. Non-active workers hired for jobs paying RM1,500 or more.
2. Disabled, Orang Asli, or former convicts hired for jobs paying RM1,200 or more.
3. Women who have been unemployed for more than 365 days, single mothers, or housewives hired for jobs paying RM1,200 or more.

For category one, the government will subsidise 20 percent of wages for the first six months, and 30 percent of wages for the subsequent six months.

For categories two and three, the subsidies are 30 percent for the first six months, and 40 percent for the subsequent six months.

The government plans to get 600,000 employed under the wage subsidy scheme, branded as JaminKerja (job guarantees).

Besides that, the government also announced wage incentives, and subsidies targeting youth and the tourism sector. - Mkini
