BN manifesto: Employees to get birthday leave as token of appreciation

GE15 | Employees would be able to get a paid holiday on their birthdays if BN wins in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

BN promised this as part of its GE15 manifesto launched tonight to appreciate the contribution of employees.

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also promised that employers would be mandated to pay an allowance to all interns.

Other policies targeted more towards young workers include the promise to enact the Dependent Contractor Act, which Zahid said will protect the welfare and income of gig workers such as e-hailing drivers, food delivery drivers and so on.

BN also vowed to provide more job opportunities and maintain the unemployment rate below four percent, which is the full employment level.

Aside from policies benefiting employees, BN said they will also give a tax deduction to companies that uphold gender and ethnic diversity in their management.

“We also want the issue of sexual harassment, inequality in wages, remuneration and treatment due to gender to be completely eliminated through examining the suitability of establishing a gender equality tribunal and the establishment of an anti-sexual harassment tribunal,” Zahid said in his speech tonight.

BN also has other initiatives targeted at youths such as the development of drag racing circuits with an allocation of RM20 million per year to facilitate opportunities for youth to be involved in motorsports through the right platform, as stated in their manifesto book.

Meanwhile, as Malaysia transitions into an aged nation, Zahid said his coalition wants to enact an Elderly Care Act in order to build a better protection and care ecosystem for the geriatric community.

NGOs which operate care centres for the elderly and disabled will also be empowered by BN if they were to come into power, with an allocation of RM105 million for five years. - Mkini
