PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan will go all-out to combat the “overwhelming” slander against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his new administration, says the coalition’s communications director.
Fahmi Fadzil said that since Anwar took his oath on Nov 24, PH has faced “one slanderous claim after another” – from the government supposedly being pro-Israel to supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
Attacks have also been launched against PH component DAP, a party that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang claimed was spreading Islamophobia.
“There is a movement to fan these sentiments against us,” he told FMT, adding that the coalition will be creating its own content to fight the slander.
PH has lodged reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
On Hadi’s comments, Fahmi said the PAS leader’s remarks did nothing to help unite the people.
“He (Hadi) can’t accept that Anwar is the 10th prime minister and that this is a unity government formed on a decree by the King, a concept that was rejected by (Perikatan Nasional chairman) Muhyiddin Yassin,” he said. - FMT
