KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad along with 13 others who had previously left Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) have joined Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra).
Former Pejuang Central Executive Committee member Armin Baniaz Pahamin confirmed the matter via a Facebook post today.
Armin said the former prime minister had registered his membership with Putra in order to continue his political struggle.
"The mission and goal must be clear if we are to succeed in a struggle. The main struggle and cause is to unite the people, the party and the Malay organisation.
"Please pray that Allah S.W.T eases and blesses our struggle. It is only through uniting the Malays that we can band together to solve problems and issues for the sake of religion and country," he said.
Accompanying the post was a picture of Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan appearing to submit an application form.
Dr Mahathir had previously dropped hints that he could be joining Putra and was seeking to be an adviser to the party.
He said he saw the invitation to join Putra as compatible and suitable with his political struggle and principles which was to defend and fight for the rights of the Malays and to fight against corruption.
He had voiced hope of being able to guide Putra and continue with the struggle while also achieving the goal of saving the Malays in the country. - NST
