KOTA TINGGI: A mother was rescued from the sea but lost two daughters who drowned during a family outing at Tanjung Buloh beach in Tanjung Sedili here this afternoon.
The two girls were identified as Siti Nursalina Johari, 10, and Siti Rabiah Johari, 13, a fire and rescue official said.
Sebana Cove station chief Khairul Sufian Dahari said the mother of the girls, Mersidita Yunos, 46, and another woman, Saleha Haron, 27, were saved by members of the public and revived through early treatment.
It was the second case in recent days of drowning during a family outing. On April 23, three sisters drowned while swimming at Pantai Cahaya, Port Dickson, while two other sisters were rescued.
The three who drowned were identified as R Kalaivani, 30, R Dawige, 29, and R Sathiyadevi, 19, from Banting, Selangor. - FMT
