The admission of guilt by YB Sanusi that he had displayed to the media his marked ballot paper before placing it inside the ballot box in yesterday's Kedah State Elections contravenes the Election Law and his defence that it was displayed in the surp of the moment should be unacceptable.
Being a seasoned politician, this sort of act by YB Sanusi should not be taken lightly.
Some innocent people are sentenced for their crimes for 'unavoidable' circumstances.
Section 39 of the Election Offences Act 1954 states that voting is a secret matter and any violation is a punishable offence with a maximum jail sentence of one year and a fine of up to RM3,000 or both upon conviction.
A crime committed is a crime and punishable by Law.
Would it be not rightful for YB Sanusi to be charged in Court immediately for this election offence and a fresh by-election be called to fill the vacancy.
