Perikatan Nasional will decide within the next couple of days on its action against Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, following the latter’s decision to support Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said his party would hold a meeting to discuss the matter and then decide on further action against Iskandar.
“In a day or two (we will hold a meeting); after that, we will make (a decision),” he told reporters when met in Parliament lobby today.
Bersatu information chief Razali Idris previously said that Iskandar may not be sacked from Bersatu.
He said that Iskander may only face the axe if he sits in the government bloc.
On Oct 12, Iskandar voiced support for Anwar's premiership, citing the rising cost of living in his constituency.
He said his decision was also meant to test whether the prime minister was sincere in providing allocation to any MP who supports the unity government’s policies.
Following the declaration, Hamzah alleged that Iskandar was "intimidated and blackmailed" into supporting Anwar's leadership, or risk facing corruption charges.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki has denied the allegation. - Mkini
