DR MAZA MENGULAS YAHUDI DAN ISRAEL

 Note : This is not very long, except for the video. Non Muslim readers may find this difficult to follow. You can skip if you wish. But it may be of some use - considering the present situation in Gaza and Israel.

Here is a YouTube video of Dr Maza explaining about the Yahudi and the Bani Israel which Dr Maza says 'menurut Al Quran' or according to the Quran. Bani Israel means Children of Israel and Yahudi refers to the Jews. 

I just have some observations I would like to share. First Dr Maza :

  

I will share some facts or factual points from the Quran.  (As an example we can say that the Quran has 114 surahs or 114 chapters. This is a fact. The Quran is made up of 114 chapters.  No need for further explanations.)

Dr Maza speaks about the Yahud or Jews. Also about the Bani Israel or the Children of Israel.  They are both mentioned in the Quran.

In the Quran, the Bani Israel are mentioned 39 times. The first mention is in Surah 2:40

 يَـٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتِىَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَوْفُوا۟ بِعَهْدِىٓ أُوفِ بِعَهْدِكُمْ وَإِيَّـٰىَ فَٱرْهَبُونِ

[2:40] O Children of Israel, remember My favor, which I bestowed upon you, and fulfill your part of the covenant, that I fulfill My part of the covenant, and reverence Me.

The Yahud are mentioned 12 times. The first occurence being in Sura 2:111

  وَقَالُوا۟ لَن يَدْخُلَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَن كَانَ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَـٰرَىٰ ۗ تِلْكَ أَمَانِيُّهُمْ ۗ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

[2:111] And they said , "No one will enter Paradise except the Yahud or Nasara!"  Such is their wishful thinking. Say, "Show us your proof, if you are right." 

But there is no single verse in the Quran which mentions the Bani Israel and the Yahud together. There is no explicit mention that the Bani Israel are the Yahud.

 

Then in Sura 3:93 there is mention of Bani Israel and also just "Israel" in the singular, masculine form. 

 ۞ كُلُّ ٱلطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّۭا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تُنَزَّلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ ۗ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ فَٱتْلُوهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Sura 3:93  All food was lawful for the children of Israel, except what Israel made unlawful for himself before the Torah was revealed. Say,˺ “Bring the Torah and read it, if your claims are true.”

I have also screenshot the relevant part of Surah 3:93   إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ   (except what Israel made unlawful for himself)   from the Quranic Arabic Corpus here:

Then in Surah 19:58 there is a mention of "Abraham and Israel" in the singular, masculine, proper noun. 

ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ  

[19:58]  descendants of Abraham and Israel

These are the two references to 'Israel' in the Quran in the singular, masculine form. 

The Quran mentions the Bani Israel (Children of Israel) in relation to Moses and Jesus. Both Moses and Jesus were sent to the Children of Israel. 

However in the Quran there is no mention that Moses was taught the Torah. The Quran mentions that Moses was given a Book (Kitab or Suhuf).

As in Surah 17:2  وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ  which means 'And We gave Moses the Book".

and Surah 87:19  صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ which means 'the Books of Abraham and Moses'. 

In the Quran there is no specific mention that Moses was given the Torah.

The Quran mentions that the Torah was taught to Jesus.

3:48  وَيُعَلِّمُهُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ

[3:48] "He will teach him (Jesus) the scripture, wisdom, the Torah and the Injeel"

[5:110] Allah will say, "O Jesus, son of Mary, . . . . I taught you the scripture, wisdom, the Torah and the Injeel  (  عَلَّمْتُكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ ۖ )

So Allah swt Himself taught Jesus the Kitab, the Hikmah (wisdom), the Torah and the Injeel. 

Finally here is Surah 25:33

وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئْنَـٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا

Surah 25:33  Dan mereka tidak membawa kepadamu sesuatu misalan melainkan Kami bawakan kepadamu kebenaran dan tafsiran yang sebaik-baiknya.
