Hadi's 'impure govt' remark shows his true colours, says Saifuddin

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s “impure government” remark shows the Islamist party leader’s true colours, said Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

According to Saifuddin Hadi continues to place himself on a pedestal while belittling his political opponents, which is unbecoming of a religious leader.

“As the leader of an Islamist party, Hadi does not portray an image of a pious and humble religious teacher. Instead, he is showing what kind of a malicious and hostile person he is towards his political opponents.

“The rakyat can see how Hadi, in pursuit of political power, has continued to put himself on a pedestal while he ridicules and humiliates his political foes.

“Making it worse, he would use ‘dalil agama’ (Islamic reasons) that are interpreted using a narrow political perspective...,” Saifuddin said.

Bereft of ideas

Adding further, the PKR leader claimed that Hadi was incapable of discussing constructive ideas beneficial to the country and rakyat.

This, Saifuddin said, was why the PAS president resorted to insults.

“While the country’s leaders are working hard to steer our economy, helping the rakyat, and fight corruption, Hadi chose to throw accusations irresponsibly. He has yet to show the rakyat what are the ideas, answers, and methods that PAS have to solve the country’s problems.

“The rakyat have been following PAS’ ongoing muktamar, including Hadi’s policy speech. What are the approaches that Hadi and PAS have towards addressing poverty, economic recovery, good governance, unity and political stability, controlling inflation, and the rising cost of living?

“Hadi and PAS do not have a grasp on these issues. So, that is why Hadi is what he is today... always insulting others and thinking highly of himself,” Saifuddin said, adding that Hadi should improve himself as a Muslim by having a good and noble character rather than being despicable.

Yesterday, Hadi during a press conference at PAS’ 69th Muktamar in Shah Alam rejected the possibility that the party will join the Anwar Ibrahim-led federal government, citing that it was an “impure” administration.

“You can see the Harapan government, who is in it... how do you expect it to be pure?

“Prisoners are there, ex-corruptors are there, the court clusters are there... How do we want to follow?

“If we want to clean excrement, we can’t go into the excrement bin,” he had said. - Mkini
