PAS MP admits he prayed for downfall of previous Harapan govt

PARLIAMENT | A PAS MP admitted that he personally prayed for the downfall of the previous Pakatan Harapan government's 22-month administration.

Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh) openly said today that he would do the same for the government of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

"Yes, that's right and this time I want to pray for the same," he said when he stood up to interrupt a comment by RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong).

Earlier, Nik Muhammad raised the issue of allocations to opposition MPs which he alleged to be unfair.

Right after that, he said today's coalition government will collapse because it does not get nusrah (help) from Allah SWT.

"The government that exists today is in shambles. Why? Because there is no favour from Allah SWT.

“Allah SWT does not soften the hearts of people to be with the government and why? Because the government is acting beyond the limits of humanity,” claimed the MP when debating the Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat session.

He said that allocation was not a matter of personal propriety.

“If this belonged to Tambun (MP Anwar), I will not say anything but this is the property of the people and the country, and it must be distributed.

“Let's not let the people in our country once again flood Kuala Lumpur like the Anti-Icerd rally that can bring down the government,” he said.

"God willing, I think... (this government) will not last long and God willing, this government will meet its end," he added.

The Anti-Icerd Rally (International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination) or the Peaceful Rally Against Icerd or the 812 Rally (in conjunction with the date of the rally) was a rally held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Dec 8, 2018.

It saw right-wing forces pressure the Harapan government not to accede to the global anti-racism convention.

In rebuttal, Rayer asked Nik Muhammad to retract his statement, citing Regulation 36(6) of the Dewan Rakyat’s Standing Orders which states that no member should impute improper motives to any other members.

Rayer said that the sentiments expressed by the Pasir Puteh MP could divide people in our country. - Mkini
