PKR member Rais Hussin has been appointed as the CEO of the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (Mranti) effective tomorrow.
Mranti is listed as a government-linked company (GLC) under the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry formed in 2021 by merging the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (Magic) and Technology Park Malaysia.
"I am committed to contributing significantly to the growth and success of the organisation as a technology and innovation accelerator, and strengthening the innovation ecosystem in Malaysia," Rais (above) said in a statement issued by Mranti today.
He will be replacing acting CEO Khairil Anuar Sadat, who is the GLC's chief commercial officer.
This is Rais' second appointment to a senior position in a GLC.
Rais was formerly the CEO of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) from June 2020 until he resigned in October 2021.
He was one of the founding members of Bersatu, but quit the party in October last year and joined PKR shortly after. - Mkini
