PETALING JAYA: Six people, including three civil servants, have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in abducting a migrant for ransom.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said police were tracking down three other suspects who remain at large.
He said the six suspects were arrested after a report was lodged by a relative of the victim, who claimed a person from an unknown number called him to demand a ransom for the victim’s release.
“The complainant was also warned against filing a police report,” he said in a statement.
Hussein said the six suspects were arrested on Friday around 9.30pm and have been placed under remand.
Investigations are being held under Sections 385 and 342 of the Penal Code for extortion and wrongful confinement respectively. - FMT
