Fact-check: Paint splashed on Segamat police chief's home in Feb

A photograph showing yellow paint splashed onto the signboard of the Segamat district police chief's residence is of an incident in February this year.

According to Segamat MP R Yuneswaran, the district police headquarters informed him the suspect was "hallucinating" and has since been charged in court for the offence.

Yuneswaran was responding to Malaysiakini's query after the image went viral on social media today.

This is after it was shared by the popular Telegram broadcast channel Edisi Siasat at 7.22 this morning.

Edisi Siasat shared the image along with another picture of a handwritten note urging police to shut down "drug shops in Segamat".

The Telegram broadcaster did not say when the incident occurred.

Edisi Siasat's Telegram channel has 684,000 followers and is administrated anonymously.

It provides a link for followers to send them leaked information but does not state if it verifies any of the information provided before publishing.
