“The de facto leader of Al Qaeda, Sayf Al-Adl, is calling on jihadists across the globe to travel to Afghanistan, marking an effort to re-establish the country as a safe haven for the terrorist group.
“The loyal people of the Ummah” the global Islamic community, “interested in change must go to Afghanistan, learn from its conditions, and benefit from the Taliban’s experience".
Adl said in a pamphlet titled, “This is Gaza: A War of Existence, Not of Borders.”
This is a call for fighters to train in Afghanistan before launching attacks on “Zionists” and the West, according to the Long War Journal.
“This is incredibly important. Many will heed the call and make the pilgrimage" the director of the Allison Center for National Security at the Heritage Foundation, Robert Greenway, tells the Sun.”
My Comments :
The money is drying up in the Middle East. The Abrahamic Accords and the disaster in Gaza has put a huge damper on fund raising for the jihadis.
The Arab countries like Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arabs (except Qatar) are not funding the usual pro-Palestine jihadi outfits in the Middle East. Instead they are forming closer partnerships with Israel.
Qatar is under a lot of pressure from the US and Saudi Arabia. The dynamics in the Middle East are changing.
The Taliban are back in power in Afghanistan. This time around the Taliban are better organised, they have rebuilt an army and an airforce using equipment left behind by the US. The Taliban are also into business and trade and seem "business friendly". They want to make money.
They are also under attack by the ISIS of Khorasan. Al Qaeda may provide a helping hand to the Taliban to fight ISIS. Money will flow again. Its all about money. The ISIS used to cooperate with Al Qaeda. It is not impossible they will cooperate again.
The Americans have quit the Middle East and Afghanistan.
The Russians and Chinese may step in.
The Russians helped defeat the ISIS in Syria.
