YOU CAN’T call yourself a drinker if you haven’t tried at least a dozen cocktails on the menu at the bar.
They come in all sorts of names, such as Monkey Gland, Dirty Mother, Zombie or even the Screaming Orgasm.
Thankfully they taste much better than they sound. And the ingredients aren’t something exotix or downright disgusting.
But take a trip to neighbouring Thailand and things get interesting, very very interesting.
In a recent post on X by netizen @sorealfoods, a cocktail has been gaining traction on the cyberspace. No fancy names, but the preparation of the cocktail will stop even the most adventurous drinker.
In the video, a lady could be seen pouring sprite into a bowl. And what comes next? She fishes out a live lobster, slices its abdomen and lets its blood flow into the liquid.
Any takers? As frightening as it seems, it is not even close to the cobra heart shot from Vietnam.
Regardless, it is still exceedingly bizarre for anyone who hails from the civilised world.
More than just the disgust factor, netizens are also condemning the preparation of the meal which is rather inhumane.

On our part, we also like to point out the origin of the drink. Here comes the big question. Who would have thought of mixing sprite and raw lobster blood in the first place?
The drink wouldn’t exist if someone didn’t think about the idea in the first place. We can only wonder. Netizens also have much to say about the drink.
“There is a Chinese version of this, more or less the same but a lot more torturing of a live animal,” said @dcglasgowboy.

Another pointed out the drink as a Thai version of the Bloody Mary, aka Thai Mary cocktail. Then there was @Garlicbackup saying that he couldn’t wait to get back to Thailand.

For those who don’t know, lobster blood when mixed with sprite often coagulates into a gelatinous, thick consistency. It is often described by consumers as tasting slightly sweet with a subtle, fresh ocean flavor.
This is often considered a rare delicacy or a “tonic” in some local Chinese traditions. On our part, we have only one thing to share. No thank you!— Focus Malaysia
