KUALA LUMPUR: A car bearing the Prisons Department logo was seen entering former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Jalan Langgak Duta residence here on Saturday (Sept 19) morning.
The vehicle, carrying at least four personnel, arrived at the residence at about 9.45am.
It is believed the personnel are from the Prisons Department and had arrived to conduct an assessment of the residence ahead of Najib’s release to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
A mobile police beat van was also parked outside Najib's residence.
A dozen reporters and photographers are also staking out the place in anticipation of the former premier's arrival.
On Friday, Najib was granted a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
The decision was made during the 64th meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board yesterday, which was chaired by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. - Star
