Speaker S Thangeswary responds to DAP rep who describes the one-day sitting on Aug 8 as inappropriate.
IPOH: There is no clause in the Permanent Order of the Perak State Assembly that states that the assembly sitting cannot be held for just a day.
Speaker S Thangeswary said it was improper for any party to question the one-day state assembly sitting last Tuesday.
“The Permanent Order item 10 (2) states that the meeting of the state assembly shall be held at least once in every six months.
“While the Permanent Order 11 states that the state assembly meeting in each term be held on certain days and starting from the date determined by the speaker,” she told a press conference here today.
She was commenting on the statement by Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Woh from DAP who described the one-day sitting on Aug 8 as inappropriate.
Thangeswary said it was not the first time that a one-day sitting was held as it also happened on Aug 15, 2011; Sept 25, 2012 and Aug 9, 2016. - FMT
