KUALA LUMPUR: All is well between between Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
Anifah rubbished claims in a local news portal which reported on Aug 15 that the two was not seeing eye to eye over the upcoming state visit by the Emir of Qatar in October.
“The Special Functions Minister and I have been working well and closely with each other on many occasions,” Anifah said in a statement today.
“The Foreign Affairs Ministry together with government agencies are making the necessary preparations for the Emir of Qatar’s state visit,” Anifah added, noting that the government is looking forward on the Emir of Qatar’s visit.
He also stated that the government’s stance on the current situation between Qatar and Saudi Arabia is clear with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement issued on July 12.
The Prime Minister had urged all parties to take part in Kuwait’s mediation efforts and comply with the agreements reached by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations notably on 2014 Riyadh Agreement as it is believed to be an acceptable basis for a solution to the crisis.
