PETALING JAYA: A Sabah businessman has claimed that he was threatened by an aide to a powerful ruling politician in the state, after he demanded payment for putting up billboards across the state to promote the chief minister.
The man who only wants to be known as Lau, said he spent close to RM10,000 to put up the billboards carrying greetings during four celebrations since May last year.
“I am only an ordinary citizen who wants to make a decent living. Why do these people have to ‘punish’ me like that?” he said.
FMT is withholding the name of the aide pending a response.
Lau said the man might once again force him to prepare festive billboards during the coming Chinese New Year and Easter celebrations.
Lau said he was trying to bring the issue to Chief Minister Shafie Apdal’s attention. -FMT
