Law firm: Kayveas is the legitimate MyPPP president, full stop

M Kayveas is the legitimate president of MyPPP as affirmed in correspondence from the Registrar of Societies, said law firm Gunaseharan & Linda.
"To date, the ROS has and continues to recognise Kayveas as the legitimate president of the party. We have documented evidence from the ROS to prove this fact," said the firm.
When contacted, the firm showed Malaysiakini a copy of a letter, dated May 18 last year, from then ROS director-general Suriyati Ibrahim which explicitly stated that Kayveas was the legitimate MyPPP president.
The firm added that Kayveas and MyPPP's supreme council continue to operate from the party's headquarters at Wisma MyPPP in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur.
"Any individual or group issuing statements in respect of the party, its president and supreme council members to the press outside of the party headquarters does not represent the official stand of the party nor its members," said the firm.
The firm said they have instructions to take legal action against those claiming that Kayveas was not the legitimate MyPPP president.
MyPPP was embroiled in a leadership struggle in April last year. Kayveas had claimed that he had stepped down as the party president, while most of his party leaders claimed he was sacked.
Five days later, Kayveas declared that he was "retracting" his resignation letter and resuming duties as party president.
Since that episode, two groups of MyPPP members - one led by Kayveas and another led by Maglin D'Cruz - are claiming control of the party.
The war of words between the two groups was reignited after Kayveas said he will be filing nominations papers for the Cameron Highlands by-election on Saturday.
Maglin had warned that his group will lodge a complaint with the Election Commission should Kayveas use the MyPPP logo during the polls.  - Mkini
