Tun Dr Mahathir Meets Johor, Who Asked For The Meeting?

Who asked for or initiated the meeting between Tun Dr Mahathir and the Sultan?

According to the New Straits Times, the Sultan of Johor asked for the meeting.
  • 90-minute meeting at the palace.
  • According to a source from the Prime Minister's Office, the meeting was held following a request by Sultan Ibrahim a few weeks ago, but what was discussed remains unknown.

Here is another report - dont know from where - I got it via WhatsApp that throws more light on this meeting.  For quick clarity my comments in blue are in between.

Putrajaya will maintain positive relationship with Johor royals, said Dr Mahathir
He said outcome of hour-long meeting with Johor ruler
both sides agreed to communicate in a frank and open manner

“I discussed on the people’s view on Tuanku and he accepted it in a positive manner. We agreed that in the future if there is a problem I can communicate with him.

(OSTB : Hmm . . .the peoples' view about the Sultan ??  What could it be? Try the GM diet? Go vegan?  I think Dr Mahathir must have told the Sultan that the people are on the verge of demanding for a republic. Or something like that.  "if there is a problem" then can communicate.  Why are there so many problems with Johor?  Pahang no problem, Perak no problem, Negeri no problem.)

“We agreed to be frank and to speak openly. He gives his views and I give my views,”

Today was first time that Dr Mahathir met Johor's ruler since general election

Agong's position was not raised during the meeting with Sultan Ibrahim.

appointment (of Agong) has nothing to do with me,” said Dr Mahathir.

no political issues related to Johor raised in the private meeting.

a lot of problems raised, but I will not talk about it,” said Dr Mahathir.

OSTB : "a lot of problems raised??'  What were these 'a lot of problems'?

I have this strange feeling we will be hearing less about this Bangsa Johor from now on.

Better communication, better attitude,  better behaviour?
Lets hope so.
