UMNO had failed to adhere to its own party rules by not holding its general assembly after the first extension to delay the calling of its general assembly, as provided by its constitution had expired.
UMNO, on its own accord, granted a second extension, which violates its own party constitution.
The then Registrar of Societies (RoS) approved the second extension, even though the RoS role is to see that societies abide by their own party constitution. The RoS has no inherent powers to supersede the party constitution of any society.
Even after knowing the situation, UMNO still fail to call for their general assembly.
Since the time had lapsed to hold its general assembly and the current general assembly held were deem to be invalid since UMNO is no longer a registered society or political party by virtue it had already contravened its own party rules.
The Registrar of Societies had no option but to DEREGISTER UMNO immediately. The Rule of Law should always be upheld.
The word "UMNO" should also be barred from being used by anyone to re-register a political party forever. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah.
