Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali is hoping to be able to table the Felda White Paper as soon as possible in the current Dewan Rakyat sitting.
“We are discussing in Parliament.
“It is hoped that after the debate on His Majesty’s (Yang di-Pertuan Agong) speech, they would be able to find the best date to table it, soonest possible,” he told reporters at the Parliament today.
It was reported on Saturday that the Felda White Paper would be tabled sometime during the current Parliament sitting which began on Monday.
Among others, the white paper will outline government efforts to restore the administration and finances of the government-linked company.
According to Singapore’s Straits Times, the white paper will centre around the RM10 billion initial public offering (IPO) of Felda Global Ventures (FGV), as well as several deals being investigated for abuse of power and breach of fiduciary duty.
Since the IPO, Felda has accumulated up to RM10 billion in losses and debt of RM12 billion at the end of 2017, it was reported.
The white paper was initially scheduled to be tabled in Parliament on Dec 10, last year, but was pushed to the Dewan Rakyat sitting this month on the advice of the Attorney-General's Chambers due to pending legal matters. - Mkini
