Officers and staff of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will be reshuffled every two or three years to prevent corrupt practices, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said today.
Some reshuffling of positions, Khalid said, is already being carried out by Kuala Lumpur mayor Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan within the organisation.
“We find that there are DBKL officers who have been holding their posts for so long. This cannot be allowed to continue.
"Perhaps after two or three years, they have to be reshuffled,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
Khalid said reshuffling involving lower-rank officers was needed as they have more contact with contractors, traders and members of the public.
However, Khalid said, the move would not involve the top posts as these positions were limited.
Khalid’s statement was in reference to media reports on the arrest of 16 individuals including a DBKL officer, a Fire and Rescue Department officer, and a police station chief by the MACC on suspicion of protecting massage parlours by accepting bribes.
