PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will meet Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Putrajaya for the 9th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat next month, Channel NewsAsia reported.
The annual retreat was to have taken place last November but was postponed. No reasons were given.
“Malaysia has proposed that the 9th Singapore-Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat take place from April 8-9, 2019 in Putrajaya,” a foreign affairs ministry spokesperson said in an email to the news portal.
“Singapore has agreed to Malaysia’s proposal.”
On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah had described the Leaders’ Retreat as an “important mechanism” for strengthening bilateral cooperation and finding common solutions to issues affecting both countries. - FMT
