Duo probed for graft in RM30 mil project freed on bail

PUTRAJAYA: A senior officer of a statutory body and a director of an information technology company, who were remanded to facilitate investigations into alleged corruption in connection with a project estimated to be worth RM30 million, were released on bail today.
Magistrate Md Bukhori Md Roslan ordered the release of the duo on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail of RM30,000 in one surety.
Another suspect, also a director of an IT company, who was remanded to facilitate investigations into the same case, was released on MACC bail yesterday.
The three men were remanded for five days from Tuesday to facilitate investigations.
They were arrested at their offices and homes in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the senior officer had abetted the two individuals to obtain approval to offer certified software services without following the regulations stipulated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The investigations are being carried out under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009. - FMT
