Selangor PAS Youth today said it will organise a mega-rally if the DAP trio of Lim Guan Eng, Nga Kor Ming and Chew Chong Sin do not apologise for their reportedly insensitive statements.
"If these DAP leaders are still stubborn, we will gather for a huge multi-racial protest rally. We believe that not all the Chinese agree with such statements," said Selangor PAS Youth deputy chief Hanafi Zulkapli.
He was speaking to reporters after submiting a memorandum at the DAP headquarters on the purported insensitive statements by the three party leaders. Present was Selangor PAS Youth chief Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim.
Three representatives from Selangor PAS Youth, supervised by police personnel, approached and handed over the memorandum to DAP Wanita executive secretary Chin Pei Chi at about noon.
On March 3, Nga, Perak DAP chaiperson, told members of the Chinese press that if an Umno-PAS coalition were to come into power, Malaysia could turn into a Taliban state.
On March 6, Lim, DAP secretary-general, had issued a statement in Chinese urging MCA to immediately leave BN because Umno and PAS were now "declaring war" on non-Muslims. He issued a correction several hours later which replaced the phrase "declaring war" with "targeting".
At least 58 police reports have been lodged nationwide against him and a police probe is ongoing.
Meanwhile, last Friday, Chew said the mosque massacres in New Zealand which left 50 people dead should serve as a lesson for Malaysians on the need to curb extremism. He then cited the example of the Umno-PAS alliance and their narrative.
Chew, DAP's Mengkibol assemblyperson, later retracted his statement stating that it had been misunderstood. In an apology last night, Chew also conveyed his condolences to the family of the victims.
In a statement, Selangor PAS Youth said it regretted the “extreme, irresponsible and insensitive statements by the DAP leaders”.
"These statements have continually come from the mouths of DAP leaders but no action is taken and this has sparked an unfavourable atmosphere in the country.”
It called for such “irresponsible and inflammatory” behaviour to be curbed, adding that Lim should resign from all governmental posts. - Mkini
