Penang exco's service centre struck by racist graffiti

Penang executive councillor Chong Eng's service centre in Bukit Mertajam has had racist and vulgar words sprayed on its front door.
When contacted, Chong said she did not know who the perpetrator was, but surmised the act was committed before 9am today, when the graffiti was discovered.
"Coincidentally, I was attending the state security meeting when I was informed about it. We have lodged a police report, and will leave it to the police to investigate," she told Malaysiakini.
"We hope it's not related to the hatred that is being spread by certain quarters," stressed Chong, who is Padang Lalang assemblyperson and head of the state’s Women Development, Family, Gender Inclusiveness and Non-Muslim Religions Committee.
The veteran politician is also national Wanita DAP chief (photo).

In a statement to the media, Central Seberang Perai police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the words "Cina p****ak" was sprayed on the front door of Chong's service centre.
"Chong's staff member has lodged a police report to ensure the safety of her staff," said Nik Ros.
"Police are looking at nearby CCTVs to ascertain who the suspect might be," he added.
"However, there was no CCTV at the scene, while nearby CCTVs were not functioning properly," Nik Ros noted.
He stated that the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which concerns the committing of mischief resulting in loss or damage amounting to RM25 or higher.
Those found guilty under the Penal Code can face a jail term between one and five years, along with a fine.  - Mkini
