MELAKA: Several of Melaka's executive councillors (excos) as well as its Chief Minister have become targets of "political paparazzis", says Melaka exco Norhizam Hassan Baktee (pic) after a fresh video of him trying to stop a trishaw rider from recording a video of him went viral on Wednesday (March 27).
Norhizam, dubbed YB Hulk after a video clip of him in a heated exchange made the rounds in October last year, said he had, together with the other trishaw riders, lodged a police report on the matter.
He said his discussion with entrepreneurs from Taming Sari Tower was secretly recorded.
"I went there to resolve the issue of entrepreneurs facing difficulties when trishaws block the path to their outlets.
"During the discussion, I suggested that we have a crash course for trishaw riders on etiquette and introducing a digital version of voice command tourist application to be affixed to their cabin," he said.
However, a trishaw rider emerged all of a sudden with a smartphone and recorded his discussion and accused him of belittling trishaw riders by saying they needed to attend school, he added.
"I never meant it that way, but this particular rider provoked me by and labelled me "YB Gangster".
"I am getting fed-up with those waiting to record us in odd situations and viralling the videos," he said.
Norhizam said he had to lodge a police report because the rider spread the video on social media even though he had promised to delete the footage.
He said the same rider posted another video the weekend before, alleging that Chief Minister Adly Zahari instructed traffic policemen to bar trishaw riders from entering an area close to Taming Sari when he had an event there.
"The video that was posted on Facebook wasn't true as the police had to cordon off certain roads leading to Taming Sari as the event involved parachuters jumping from the tower," he said.
Norhizam said there were also other excos who were subjected to online humiliation.
The 1.34min-long video shows Norhizam having a discussion with the entrepreneurs when the trishaw rider confronts him after he utters the word "sekolah" (school) when referring to the course meant for the trishaw riders.
Malacca (ADUN) for Pengkalan Batu, Norhizam Hassan Baktee, is now on the spotlight again when he almost assaulted a guy who was recording him and asking him provoking question.
