'Umno-PAS tie-up good, BN-PAS tie-up even better'

While lauding the cooperation between Umno and PAS, Nazri Abdul Aziz said today that cooperation between BN and PAS would be even better.

According to the BN secretary-general, the latter would appear as the more "multiracial" option.

“Cooperation between PAS and Umno is good for Malay and Muslim unity, but I’m of the view that it should take the form of BN and PAS.

“That is because if it is only between Umno and PAS, it would appear ‘too Malay’. 

"Between BN and PAS it would look multiracial,” he told reporters when met outside the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Nazri was asked to comment on Umno and PAS announcing the formalisation of their ties earlier today.

He also noted that other BN component parties should welcome the announcement, as they would have nothing to lose from stronger ties forged between Umno and PAS.

“I feel that whatever the case, the interests of Malays and Islam must be prioritised without neglecting the interests of others.
