PKR AGM | In the first half of debates at the PKR congress this morning, several delegates aimed their criticism at deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and “traitors” within the party.
This is despite calls from PKR president Anwar Ibrahim for unity among the party's two warring factions.
Kedah delegate Mohammed Firdaus Johari called upon Azmin to perform better in his ministerial duties.
“Alhamdulilah, we have an economic affairs minister from PKR, Azmin Ali.
“(But) I want to ask, what are the programmes for the youth that can be felt by the grassroots? I hope that the leadership and the minister (Azmin) will have a paradigm shift and solve the problems affecting the youth.
“As a younger brother advising an older brother, I urge you to focus your work on your ministry and less on being a menteri pengiring (ushering minister),” he said to cheers from the audience.
Firdaus did not elaborate on his label but it is believed to be in reference to how Azmin is often seen accompanying Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at events.

Later, Perak delegate A Tinagaran called out at a “cartel” for supposedly monopolising government allocations.
“If we look at the system of government allocations, this is still controlled by the cartel.
“We see 20 companies in one building and the cartel control the government allocations.
“We used to fight Umno and BN when they were in power, should we now fight against this cartel?” he asked, to which audience members were heard answering lawan (fight).
Remove the traitors
Both the Johor and Kelantan delegates called for stern action to be taken against “traitors” within PKR.

Hailing from Simpang Renggam, Mohd Shahrun Radzi Salehudin gave a spirited speech and said enemies within would bring down the party.
“I urge the disciplinary committee to take stern action on those who have been identified as traitors to the party. All of them," he said.
“Do you agree?”
In response, audience members were heard shouting setuju (agree).
Kelantan’s Ismail Mohamad rallied the crowd against traitors who were trying to destroy the party and called for unity behind Anwar.
Azmin shrugs off roasting
Met after the debates, Azmin shrugged off the labels against him.
“It is an open process,” he said briefly, smiling. - Mkini
