PKR AGM | PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the fracas at the PKR Youth Congress yesterday was a result of him having been too "conciliatory and forgiving" in the past.
"I am very conciliatory and forgiving, so sometimes (things like) yesterday (will happen).
"So people think it's okay, they each attached (themselves to) their own 'big brothers' (taikor).
"If I have been more tough, I think I should have sacked most of them... the perpetrators (of yesterday's incident)," Anwar said.
He said this in a press conference after his policy speech at the PKR national congress held at Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC) today.
The PKR Youth Congress yesterday started with a ruckus when sacked permanent chairperson Mizan Adli Mohd Noor was barred from entering the event.
In the afternoon, the tension escalated into a brawl which spilt onto the streets for almost an hour, causing several people to be injured.
Several police reports were lodged over this incident and the police have arrested two men in relation to the incident.
Anwar had yesterday said the PKR disciplinary board will investigate this matter and sack the wrongdoers if necessary.
"This uncivilised behaviour cannot be tolerated and not acted upon," he had said.
In the press conference today, he said the fighting yesterday had affected the supposed growing factionalism in the party and hatred among the party members.
"I should have just said enough is enough," Anwar said. - Mkini
