Warisan pro-illegal immigrants in Sabah, says Abdul Aziz

UMNO AGM | Sabah Umno Youth chief, Abdul Aziz Julkarnain, has claimed that the Warisan-led state government were prioritising undocumented migrants.

Abdul Aziz also said the state's economy had also taken a downturn since Warisan took over Sabah after last year's general election.

"Sabahans are worried, they are in limbo due to the policies introduced by the Warisan government and Pakatan Harapan, which are more friendly to undocumented migrants," he said in his speech at the 73rd Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur, today. 

"Sabah's economy is also suffering," Abdul Aziz (photo) said, adding it was important for Umno to win the Kimanis parliamentary by-election, which would be held soon following a Federal Court's decision which nullified Sabah Umno leader Anifah Aman's victory in the general election.

Admitting that it would be tough for the party to win the Kimanis seat again, he said Umno has no other choice but to continue fighting.

"Whether we win or lose, the fight continues. This is Umno, parti keramat (sacred party), we are consistent regardless if we win or lose," he said.

The Federal Court on Dec 2 announced its decision to uphold an Election Court ruling that nullified Anifah's election victory for the Kimanis parliamentary seat.

The decision was reached by a five-member bench led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, where they unanimously dismissed Anifah's appeal to set aside the Election Court ruling.

Tengku Maimun said there were discrepancies in the conduct of the election process and widespread non-compliance of election laws, which had affected the outcome of the polls.

Meanwhile, Umno MP for Cameron Highlands, Ramli Mohd Nor today became the first Orang Asli to participate in the general assembly.

He told delegates that he was the first Orang Asli to be voted into the august House through democracy and he would stay loyal to Umno's struggle.

"I am the first Umno member of Orang Asli descent to speak at the Umno general assembly. Thanks to the Umno president for his confidence in me," said Ramli.
