UMNO AGM | Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has blasted Pakatan Harapan for "deifying" former communist leader Chin Peng and rewrite the history of the country by allowing his ashes to be brought home.
"Without considering what the cruelty of the communists, the government has not only allowed the gathering of their sympathisers, but they said they were in the dark about his ashes been brought home.
"I pity the government as its reputation now tarnished by the ashes of Chin Peng," he told close to 2,900 Umno delegates at the party's general assembly today.
He said the previous government had turned down a request for the ashes of Chin Peng to be brought home.
"But now, it appeared that these people wanted to deify (Chin Peng), but also wanted to change the history by remembering him as the freedom fighter. Such a move really hurts the people," added Zahid.
